PRESS RELEASE: ‘Diva Cookbook’ gift of choice for Miss Utah
DATE: January 5, 2006

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH Miss Utah selects ‘Diva cookbook’ as gift for Miss America Pageant contestants.
Beauty queens are familiar with being considered divas, but domestic divas? Julia Bachison, Miss Utah 2006, thinks they can be! The Miss America Pageant requires all of its contestants to bring a gift for each of the forty-nine other contestants. After being tipped off by a local bookstore manager, Bachison selected The Domestic Diva’s Party Cookbook as her gift because the authors Pat and Keely Hemming, are from Layton, Utah.
Originally from Ogden, Bachison wanted to present her runway companions with something “fun” that went along with her platform, “Healthy weight for life! Eat healthy, stay tobacco free.” She feels it complements her platform “because it has plenty of salads and lots of healthy things to eat.” Fifty copies of the book were donated by Utah-based publishing company Cedar Fort, Inc last week before Bachison left for the pageant. “We’re thrilled to be able to support Miss Utah in this way,” says Cedar Fort Marketing Director, Lindsey Shumway. “We hope all the Miss America Pageant contestants will enjoy this uniquely Utah gift.”
The National Miss America Pageant will take place on January 21, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. MST. Both Miss Utah and the authors of The Domestic Diva Party Cookbook will be appearing at a gala at the Peery Egyptian Hotel in Ogden on January 5, 2006 at 5:00 p.m. and together on Good Things Utah later this month.
